Heirloom Quality

Look what I've received - toffee from that jewel of the Wash, King's Lynn!  I didn't realise there was a clotted cream toffee industry in Lynn, I thought it was just sugarbeet, paper, and people with bright red faces.  This, combined with my mint-in-box Britney Spears doll, is my pension fund. In other non-interesting news, the MX5 has had 4 new tyres (Falken shite, but they seem to work pretty well on the Berlingo), and the VFR has had a new chain and sprockets (63500 miles).  Oh, and I wasted £5 of real money on a paintjob for my pretend-spaceship... despite the fact I'm the first to laugh at people who squander money on private number plates for their cars: Also visited Poole again this week, and saw this: Been to Poole bike night every fortnight so far this year, so the local economy must be feeling the benefit of all the chips and ice cream I've been buying.

Double the Danger

Monkeyboy has been crazing me for a new computer for months.  Admittedly his machine was shite, but when I was his age we had Combat on the Atari 2600, and we were happy.  There was no Skype, no 3D games, no internet, and no naked ladies.  Actually, it was rubbish :( We built a new machine for him today, identical to mine.  Now we're both basking in the glory of Elite:Dangerous! While we were there ( Novatech in Portsmouth), we had a go on their Oculus Rift demo... and we have seen the future of video games!  The motion tracking is spot-on, but the resolution is a bit too low (making text very blurry), and you're aware some part of your brain is working extremely hard to process what you're seeing.  We spent about 90 seconds each on the waterchute demo, and afterwards felt like we'd actually been on some kind of roller coaster.  I felt nauseous, and had to have 2 cups of tea and 7 choc digestives to calm my angry tummy. So right now it needs some work but this

More Poland

Back home again now, but before leaving we visited the armaments museum in Poznan.  Much interesting Soviet stuff: Su20 MiG17 No idea, but it has a tail gunner Also, a couple of bikes spotted at a dealer a few mins walk from the office:  Honda Vultus!  First one I've seen in the metal... looked quite interesting in photos, in reality it looks a bit sad with it's wheely-bin quality plastics. Harley Davidson Fat Bob.  I was with another bikey engineer and we both loved this and had ideas about buying it and riding it back to the UK, but trying to find the price was extremely difficult.  Eventually I had to look at their website, and it was the equivalent of £10K - if anything, slightly MORE than you'd pay in the UK.  Looks brilliant though, with huge wide alloys.  I want one.

International Food Tour

Back in Poznan, Poland for a week.  Lovely and warm here, surprisingly. I have been eating the following stuff:  Bacon and sausage (and a fried egg) soup in a big roll.  £2! Weird vegetable thing, which you peel then eat raw.  Nobody here knows the English name, but it's like a vegetable melon.
